I am born with a capacity to wonder, so I wonder at the majesty, and magnificence of the world I inhabit. Often with delight, sometimes with awe I look upon he vastness and variety in creation, the expanses of space and the might of elemental energies, the ocean and the dew drop, the fierce sun and the twinkling star, the mountain and the flower, the oak and the weed, the butterfly and the beast

In 2001 DRIK began its work in villages and urban poor communities of Bangalore, India in partnership with AVAS, a service organization that has been working to mobilize communities on land and shelter rights for the poor.
Today, these are acknowledged as emerging trends in innovative, rights based educational programs and best practices.
DRIK
DRIK is where education goes beyond schooling. It is all about sustainable learning processes that foster empowerment, self-reliance and leadership. DRIK works with a community specific, region based and socially relevant curriculum that is evolved contextually and inspires the young minds to think and act independently.

These learning and education centers set up by DRIK revitalize the severed roots between the poor and their heritage, their inherent potential and strengths. DRIK promotes learning where deprived children and youth understand their history and culture, learn traditional skills of their communities that are dying out, and are enabled to feel their self-worth by taking control of their lives, their environment and well being of their communities.

In fact, every subject taught, every thought debated, every dialogue had, also takes expression through an array of colors and myriad hues on paper, cloth, glass or even waste.
